Monica Pemberton

Monica Pemberton is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the American Council on Education (ACE), where she drives technological advancements and ensures secure system functioning. Before joining ACE, Monica was the Chief Technology Officer at the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), leading pivotal technology initiatives. Her career has been punctuated by roles in technology consulting within the federal government sector, notably for the General Services Administration (GSA) Office of Citizen Engagement and Transportation Security Administration, Terrorist Threat Assessment and Credentialing (TSA-TTAC).
Monica brings a wealth of experience to her current position. She holds a BS and MS degrees from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is committed to continuous professional development, with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace and Inclusive and Ethical Leadership certificates.
Monica is a leader in her field and a member of a larger community of professionals. She serves on the Technology Professionals Advisory Council of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), board member for the Association Women Technology Champions (AWTC) and is the President of the Blacks in Technology (BIT) Alexandria, Virginia chapter, her involvement in these organizations is a testament to her commitment to the field and her desire to connect with and learn from her peers.
Monica’s impact goes beyond accolades. Her influence extends to the next generation through her mentorship of black and brown students in technology for the Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) College Mentor Program. This is a clear testament to her dedication to the future of the field and her passion for leveraging technology for organizational success and fostering inclusivity.
