Washington, D.C. — Association Women Technology Champions (AWTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joanna Pineda and Jessica Richardson to its Board of Directors. These accomplished leaders bring extensive experience and deep commitment to advancing women in technology within the association sector.
The appointments follow the conclusion of terms for board members Moira Edwards and Monica Pemberton, whose dedicated service and meaningful contributions to AWTC are celebrated with appreciation.
Joanna Pineda is CEO and Chief Troublemaker of Matrix Group International, Inc., an award-winning digital agency serving associations and nonprofits. Under her leadership, Matrix Group has partnered with hundreds of organizations across the U.S. and globally to increase membership, generate revenue, and strengthen digital engagement.
An author, keynote speaker, and podcaster, Joanna hosts the Associations Thrive podcast and co-hosts K Drama Chat. She is active in AWTC, ASAE, and the AANHPI Community Resource Group within ASAE. In 2025, she received the AWTC Badass Award, which recognizes trailblazing leaders who have founded companies, shaped the industry, and demonstrated resilience and adaptability.
Before founding Matrix Group in 1999, Joanna served as President of Business Information Network, Inc. She holds a first-degree black belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido and is deeply involved in scouting, serving as Charter Organization Representative for the Alexandria Scouting League, Committee Chair for Troop 1515, and merit badge counselor.
Jessica Richardson is a strategic membership and marketing leader with more than 13 years of experience building data-driven, member-centered programs in the association and nonprofit sectors. At the American Association of Immunologists (AAI), she advances initiatives that strengthen member engagement through digital transformation, creative communications, and cross-functional collaboration.
Jessica’s work spans membership strategy, marketing, and technology implementation. She designs onboarding and renewal frameworks, maps member journeys, and provides analytics and reporting that inform retention strategies. Her contributions include launching digital platforms, developing integrated content strategies, and translating data into actionable insights.
A recognized voice in association technology, Jessica has presented for AWTC, fusionSpan, UST Education, and Multiview, and has appeared on Association Briefings’ Engaging in the Next podcast. She is an AWTC Technology Champion and recently served as co-chair of the Programming Committee.
