Take a deep dive into the immersive world of User Research and User Experience (UX)!

This hands-on interactive workshop explores user research essentials, encompassing quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Get hands-on experience with techniques and see how to collect insights that shape your member’s digital experiences so you can run your own UX research and usability tests to improve your association’s digital presence.

The session focuses on usability testing and research. Learn how to conduct usability tests to enhance UX functionality and user satisfaction from developing your research goals, building a test plan, executing your testing, and analyzing your results. Engage in hands-on activities with tools to understand user needs and master information architecture and site navigation.

Take an active role in building your user research skills by applying learned concepts firsthand. Anyone can, and should, be researching their digital experience, and we’re here to help you learn how!

Speakers

Rhoni+Rakos

Rhoni Rakos is the Director of Digital Strategy at fusionSpan and has been in the digital experience field since 2009. She has worked with associations and non-profits since 2013, enabling them to maximize their reach and impact through technology. Rhoni’s team provides expertise in technology strategy and road mapping, UX research and design, website design and development, and marketing automation strategy and implementation. She has a Bachelor of Science and Art from Carnegie Mellon University in Industrial Design and Biology.

Ray van Hilst

Ray van Hilst is Director of Client Results at Yoko Co, a web design and marketing agency with a mission to help organizations "Do good. Better."

Ray blends 25+ years of marketing experience with modern web principles to create high value websites that help organizations meet their goals. His diverse background includes Fortune 500 brands such as Disney and The Home Depot and nonprofits and associations including the National Wildlife Federation, The Oceanic Society, EMDR International Association, American Association of Endodontists, School Nutrition Association, and many more.

Ray works with clients to set the strategic direction for their website and online marketing by helping them get beyond the “wouldn't it be great if” conversations to the place of “this is what we should do.” He offers clients strategic consultation on web development, content strategy, creative direction, and on-going web operations.

Ray is a frequent speaker about web strategy, web operations and marketing technology. He is also an active member of ASAE: The American Society of Association Executives and serves on ASAE’s Technology Section Council. When he’s not thinking about the web, Ray is a husband, father, outdoor enthusiast, and aspiring musician.

Anisah Kabli

has a diverse work experience within the field of web development. She started her career in 2011 as a Teaching Assistant at George Mason University and Multimedia Specialist for George Mason University's STEM Pre-College Outreach Program. Anisah worked on hosting labs, grading, conducting exam review sessions, and developing STEM event websites.
In 2013, she joined InfoComm International (AVIXA) as a Web Developer. At AVIXA, Anisah gained experience in web development and served as a key member of the web team. In 2016, she transitioned to the role of Web Development Manager at AVIXA, where she worked on front-end and back-end projects and led the technical side of the InfoComm rebrand to AVIXA. Anisah then took on the role of Director of Web Development at AVIXA in 2019.
Alongside her role at AVIXA, Anisah also works as an Adjunct Professor, teaching a web course at George Mason University, and works on developing and managing the Virginia Women in High-Performance Computing (VA-WHPC).
In 2021, she received a Teacher of Distinction Award at George Mason University. She was a finalist in the 2022 Women in IT (WIT) Non-Profit and Academia Leadership Awards.
