The Programming Committee is responsible for curating engaging, high-impact learning experiences—both virtual and in-person—for AWTC members and allies. The committee works collaboratively to identify relevant topics, recruit dynamic speakers, and design programs that reflect AWTC’s mission of empowering women leaders in technology and association management.

Time Commitment
Approximately 4-6 hours per month, depending on the event cycle and individual involvement.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Attend monthly committee meetings (typically 1 hour each)
• Collaborate with fellow members and speakers to plan webinars, panels, and live events
• Identify timely topics and recommend speakers or formats to keep programming fresh and relevant
• Participate in event hosting or moderation (a great fit for those comfortable speaking in front of an audience or facilitating discussions)
• Assist with event promotion and audience engagement before, during, and after programs
• Bring energy, curiosity, and ideas to the table—active participation and collaboration are key to our success.

No experience is needed. Enthusiasm and interest are the most important skills.

Tell our story. Volunteers help manage AWTC’s digital presence — from social media and newsletters to web content and graphic design — spreading the word about our mission and events. Working closely with other AWTC committees, the Marketing and Communications Committee ensures timely and accurate communication with AWTC members and allies. The committee includes several subcommittees: Website, Content & Social, Newsletter, Membership, and Email.

2-3 hrs./month

• Contribute ideas and actively participate in committee & subcommittee meetings to advance AWTC’s mission.
• Collaborate with other committees to ensure consistent, aligned communication across all AWTC platforms (website, newsletter, social media, and email).
• Support content creation, review, and distribution to keep the AWTC community informed and engaged.
• Promote programs, events, awards, scholarships, and membership initiatives through coordinated outreach.
• Provide feedback, share expertise, and help enhance AWTC’s digital presence and member experience.
• Uphold AWTC’s brand voice, inclusivity, and professional standards in all communications.
• Commit to meeting deadlines, attending scheduled meetings, and maintaining active participation throughout the year.

The Scholarship Committee Chair leads the Association for Women Technology Champions (AWTC) Scholarship Committee in advancing AWTC’s mission to support and empower women in association technology careers. This role oversees the end-to-end scholarship process—from planning and application review to recipient recognition—ensuring transparency, fairness, and alignment with AWTC’s inclusion, mentorship, and professional growth values.

Time Commitment
Approximately 10–15 hours per scholarship cycle, most of the time during the 2–3 week review period. Additional time for communications and collaboration with the Marketing committee and AWTC Finance contact may be required.

Volunteer Responsibilities 

• Lead and Coordinate the Committee: Guide the Scholarship Committee through the annual cycle, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Develop Timeline and Confirm Budget: Work with the committee to create the scholarship application and review timeline, confirm available funds with the Board Treasurer, and communicate key deadlines to all stakeholders.
• Oversee Application Review: Manage a 2–3 week review period, depending on the number of applications (typically 10–12 submissions). Ensure each application is evaluated fairly against AWTC’s established criteria.
• Select and Notify Recipients: Lead the selection of recipients (typically 7–8 per cycle). Communicate the final list to the AWTC Board for awareness (no formal approval required).
• Manage Scholarship Communications: Monitor the scholarship@awtc.tech mailbox. Respond to inquiries, send award and non-selection notifications using the provided templates, and maintain consistent, professional communication with applicants.
• Coordinate Award Processing: Collect recipient mailing addresses and confirm check distribution (typically completed within one week of issue).
• Gather Recipient Information: Request headshots and LinkedIn profile links from recipients. Compile and share these with the Marketing Committee for website updates and promotional announcements.
• Promote Awardees and Celebrate Success: Partner with the Marketing Committee to ensure recipients are recognized on AWTC’s website and social media channels. Support storytelling and visibility that highlight the impact of the scholarship program.

The AWTC Awards Committee leads the recognition work that fulfills a core part of AWTC’s mission: to empower, advance, and recognize women who champion technology in associations. The committee’s purpose is to celebrate excellence, elevate visibility, and create community among those driving innovation and inclusion in association technology by stewarding this signature award program.

Time Commitment
1-2 hours per month, with more concentrated periods of work for judging and selection, and ceremony management.

Volunteer Responsibilities 

• Be an advocate and evangelist of the awards program.
• Managing the annual AWTC Awards program in partnership with the AWTC Board.
• Reviewing and updating award categories, criteria, and processes to ensure alignment with AWTC’s mission and values.
• Overseeing the nomination and selection process with integrity and fairness.
• Review applications and select winners to be confirmed by AWTC Board of Directors.
• Collaborating with the Board and other committees on promotion, communications, and the awards celebration event.
• Encouraging a diverse range of nominations that reflect the breadth of the AWTC community.
